This weekend I spent two days with this guy - we'll call him X(Capt. X - Tht's how these people introduce themselves to we Civilians..... ha ha ha! ) It once again felt like ol' days..... staying in dorm..... going to mess for lunch and dinner, seeing people in uniform all around you! Even the smell in the Officers' Mess was hard to miss. But, definitely quality of food was better than that in Tilaiya...... And, the bar besides the dining hall was far too inviting..... I had two bottles of beer before moving for lunch. Surprisingly, X doesn't drink..... that guy always had amazing self will and thank God! 'Fauj ka life' has not taken its toll on him i.e. he still cracks jokes and makes you laugh and most of all he never complains of job which we do more often than not.

However, it was difficult to miss the fact that X had changed..... That guy used to be an emotional fool once upon a time - like we all were. But, he has dramatic control over his sentiments now. He shows only that part of him that he wants to. He flirts, keeps falling in and out of love and his commitments are over even before one could spell the word. But, just between you and me X! What about loads of commitment and devotion that you once possessed...... is it good to loose such humane values? You were dear to us because you were simple, had a great sense of humor and because you cared for us. Just because life gave you a raw deal (as you narrated!) once doesn't mean that you should hit back at life with vengeance! And what use of that vengeance buddy if you too perish in it.

I might have been wrong in judging you dear and I wish you are still the same as I once knew you!
